About the PI

Thomas McWilliams, PhD, Docent.

Tom completed degrees in biochemistry and neuroscience, before pursuing postdoctoral research in autophagy and degeneration signalling. These diverse training experiences have set the stage for his own independent laboratory at the University of Helsinki to address major questions in the field of selective autophagy, metabolism and tissue integrity. Outside of the lab, he enjoys cooking, sport, playing music and taking care of his family. You can read more about Tom here.
